6513. Speak I pray in the ears of Pharaoh, saying. That this signifies entreaty for consent, is evident from the signification of "speak I pray," as being entreaty; and from the signification of "ears," as being obedience (n. 2542, 3869, 4551, 4652-4660), here consent, because it is said to the king. Obedience is also consent; but is called obedience when applied to inferiors, and consent when applied to superiors.
Elliott(1983-1999) 6513
6513. 'Speak, I beg you, in Pharaoh's ears, saying' means an anxious plea that it should consent to it. This is clear from the meaning of 'speak, I beg you' as an anxious plea; and from the meaning of 'ears' as obedience, dealt with in 2542, 3869, 4551, 4652-4660, in this instance consent since the plea is addressed to the king. Obedience too is consent; but the word obedience is used in reference to inferiors, consent in reference to superiors.
