Apocalypse Explained (Tansley translation 1923) 301

301. Verses 2, 3. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a great voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no one in heaven, neither upon the earth, nor under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look thereon.

"And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a great voice," signifies influx of the Lord into heaven: "Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?" signifies, whether any one there is of such a quality as to know and perceive the states of the life of all.

"And no one in heaven, neither upon the earth, nor under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look thereon," signifies, manifestation, that no one knows and perceives, of himself, anything of the state of the life of all in general and of each in particular.

301. Verses 2, 3. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a great voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no one was able, in heaven nor upon the earth nor under the earth, to open the book, neither to look thereon.

2. "And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a great voice," signifies the influx of the Lord into heaven (n. 302); "who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?" signifies is there anyone there who is such as to know and perceive the states of life of all (n. 303)? "And no one was able, in heaven nor upon the earth nor under the earth, to open the book, neither to look thereon," signifies manifestation that no one knows and perceives of himself anything whatever of the state of life of all in general, and of each in particular n. 304.

301. "Et vidi angelum fortem praedicantem voce magna, Quis est dignus aperire librum et solvere sigilla ejus? Et nemo potuit in caelo, nec super terra, neque sub terra, "aperire librum nec inspicere eum."

2. "Et vidi angelum fortem praedicantem voce magna", significat influxum Domini in caelum [n. 302] ; "Quis est dignus aperire librum et solvere sigilla ejus?" significat num ullus ibi talis est ut sciat et percipiat status vitae omnium [n. 303] .

3. "Et nemo potuit in caelo, nec super terra, neque sub terra, aperire librum nec inspicere eum", significat manifestationem quod ne hilum aliquis de statu vitae omnium in communi et singulorum in particulari ex se sciat et percipiat [n. 304] .
