830. Verse 15. And it was given unto him to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.
"And it was given unto him to give breath to the image of the beast," signifies, that by means of conjunction with the Word there was something of spiritual life therein; "that the image of the beast should both speak," signifies, that thence something in agreement flowed out of heaven into the thought nearest to speech excited and enkindled from natural love; "and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed," signifies the threats of eternal death for those who do not believe everything, generally and particularly, which is so established.
830. Verse 15. And it was given unto him to give breath to the image of the beast that the image of the beast may both speak and may cause that as many as do not worship the image of the beast be killed.
15. "And it was given unto him to give breath to the image of the beast," signifies that by being conjoined with the Word there was something of spiritual life therein n. 831; "that the image of the beast may both speak," signifies that consequently an agreement flowed in from heaven into the thought nearest to the speech excited and enkindled by natural love n. 832; "and may cause that as many as do not worship the image of the beast be killed," signifies threats of eternal death to those that do not believe everything and all things that are so established (n. 833).

"Et datum ei dare spiritum imagini bestiae, ut et loquatur imago bestiae, et faciat ut quicunque non adorant imaginem bestiae, occidantur."
15. "Et datum ei dare spiritum imagini bestiae", significat quod per conjunctionem cum Verbo aliquid vitae spiritualis inesset [n. 831] ; "ut et loquatur imago bestiae", significat quod inde e caelo consentiens influxerit in cogitationem loquelae proximam, ab amore naturali excitatam et incensam [n. 832] ; "et faciat ut quicunque non adorant imaginem bestiae, occidantur", significat minas mortis aeternae pro illis qui non omnia et singula, quae sic stabilita sunt, credunt [n. 833] .
