The New Jerusalem and its Heavenly Teachings (New Century Edition 2020) 284

284. Since the Father is in the Lord and the Father and the Lord are one, and since we are to believe in the Lord and whoever believes in him has eternal life, we can see that the Lord is God. The Word tells us that the Lord is God, as in John:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made through him, and nothing that was made came about without him. And the Word became flesh and lived among us; and we saw his glory, glory like that of the only-begotten child of the Father. (John 1:1, 3, 14)

In Isaiah:

A Child has been born to us; a Son has been given to us. Leadership will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called God, Hero, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

Again:

A virgin will conceive and give birth, and the [child's] name will be called "God with us. " (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23)

And in Jeremiah:

Behold, the days are coming when I will raise up for David a righteous branch who will rule as king, and prosper. And this is his name: they will call him "Jehovah our Righteousness. " (Jeremiah 23:5, 6; 33:15, 16)

The Heavenly City (Woofenden translation 1993) 284

284. The Father is in the Lord, and they are one person. Also, we should believe in him, and if we do we will live forever. So you can see that the Lord is God. The Bible teaches that the Lord is God, as in this passage in John:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.... Everything was made through him, and nothing that was made was made without him.... And the Word became physical, and lived with us. We saw his splendor — it was like the splendor of the Father’s only Son. (John 1:1, 3, 14)

And in Isaiah:

A boy has been born for us. A Son has been given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. His name will be . . . God, Champion, Father forever, the peaceful Prince. (Isaiah 9:6)

Also in Isaiah:

A virgin will conceive and have a baby.... And his name will be “God with us.” (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23)

And in Jeremiah:

Look! The day is coming . . . When I will lift up a righteous branch from David’s line, who will rule as King, and will prosper.... And this will be his name: Jehovah our Righteousness. (Jeremiah 23:5-6; 33:15-16)

The New Jerusalem and its Heavenly Doctrine (Chadwick translation 1990) 284

284. Since the Father is in the Lord, and the Father and the Lord are one, and since we must believe in Him, and he who believes in Him has everlasting life, it is plain that the Lord is God. This is the teaching of the Word, as in John:

In the beginning there was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made by him, and nothing that was made was made without him. And the Word was made flesh and lived among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father. John 1:1, 3, 14.

In Isaiah:

A boy is born to us, a son is given to us, on whose shoulder is the princedom; and His name shall be called God, Hero, the everlasting Father, the Prince of peace. Isaiah 9:6.

In the same book:

A virgin shall conceive and bear a child, and His name shall be called God with us. Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23.

And in Jeremiah:

See, the days will come when I shall raise up for David a righteous shoot, who shall reign as king and flourish. And this is the name which they will call Him, Jehovah our righteousness. Jeremiah 23:5-6; 33:15-16.

The New Jerusalem and its Heavenly Doctrine (Tafel translation 1911) 284

284. Since the Father is in the Lord, and the Lord and the Father are one; and since the Lord must be believed in, and he who believes in Him has eternal life; it is plain that the LORD is God. That the Lord is God, the Word also teaches; as in John 1:1, 3, 14, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God; and God was the Word. All things were made through the same; and without the same there was not anything made that was made. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us; and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father." And in Isaiah 9:6, "Unto its a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name shall be called GOD, Hero, FATHER OF ETERNITY, Prince of Peace." Again, "Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear, and His name shall be called God with us" (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23). And in Jeremiah 23:5-6; 33:15-16), "Behold, the days come, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper; and this is His name whereby they shall call Him JEHOVAH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS."

The New Jerusalem and its Heavenly Doctrine (Whitehead translation 1892) 284

284. Because the Father is in the Lord, and the Father and the Lord are one; and because we must believe in Him, and he that believes in Him has eternal life, it is evident that the Lord is God. That the Lord is God, the Word teaches, as in John:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and God was the Word; all things were made by Him, and without Him was not any thing made which was made; and the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, the glory as of the Only-begotten of the Father (John 1:1, 3, 14).

In Isaiah:

A Boy is born to us, a Son is given to us, on whose shoulder is the government, and His name shall be called God, Hero, the Father of Eternity, the Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6).

In the same:

A virgin shall conceive and bring forth, and His name shall be called God with us (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23).

And in Jeremiah:

Behold the days shall come when I will raise up to David a just Branch, who shall reign King, and shall prosper; and this is His name which they shall call Him, Jehovah our Justice (Jer. 23:5, 6; 33:15, 16).

De Nova Hierosolyma et ejus Doctrina Caelesti 284 (original Latin 1758)

"In principio erat Verbum, et Verbum erat apud Deum, et Deus erat Verbum: ....omnia per Ipsum facta sunt, et sine Ipso factum est nihil quod factum est ....Et Verbum Caro factum est, et habitavit inter nos, et vidimus gloriam Ipsius, gloriam ut Unigeniti a Patre" (Johannes 1:1, 3, 1);

Apud Esaiam,

"Puer natus est nobis, Filius datus est nobis, super cujus humero principatus; et vocabitur nomen Ipsius ...Deus, Heros, Pater aeternitatis, Princeps pacis" (Esaias 9:5);

Apud eundem,

"Virgo concipiet et pariet.., et vocabitur nomen Ipsius Deus nobiscum (Esaias 7:14; Matthaeus 1:23);
