1231. Such people are allotted a place in the other life rather deep down, forward, a little toward the left. And there they seem to stand still and think, not caring if other spirits try to molest them. They respond thoughtfully, from [a view of] causes and principles. It is granted them to speak truths from the Lord, although they think that they do so of their own power, and that they had gotten them by reflecting.
1231. In the other life such spirits are allotted a certain rather deep place, forward, a little towards the left, and there they are seen to stand and think. If other spirits desire to harass them, they do not care but answer prudently and indeed from causes and principles. It is granted them by the Lord to speak verities, although they suppose that they do so from themselves, and thus that they have derived them by their reflections.
1231. Tales in altera vita sortiuntur locum quendam profundius, antrorsum, paulo versus sinistrum, ibique videntur stare, et cogitare, nec curant, si alii spiritus eos lacessere cupiunt, prudenter respondent, et quidem ex causis et principiis; iis datur veritates loqui a Domino, quamvis putent id ex semet, et quod sic per reflexiones ea hauserint.
