Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 1356

1356. Those who are inwardly hiding deceit are unexpectedly cast out of societies or groups

There are certain people in the world who, without conscience, like to harm their neighbor, yet make an outward show of sincerity. They take the greatest care, for various reasons, not to appear as they are, instigating others to doing harm, just so they themselves appear blameless. These slip into societies of spirits, and sit chatting with them, while the spirits only assume that they are forming a mutual relationship with them also inwardly at heart.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 1356

1356. THAT THOSE WHO ARE INWARDLY CUNNING ARE UNEXPECTEDLY CAST OUT OF SOCIETIES OR CONSOCIATIONS

There are some in the world who without conscience desire to harm the neighbor, but who present an external appearance as if they were honest. They take very great care for various reasons lest they should appear such, instigating others to do harm, provided that they themselves may seem blameless. They insinuate themselves into societies of spirits, and they sit chatting with the spirits there who suppose no otherwise than that they form a common fellowship with them inwardly and in the mind [animus] also.
