Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 1382

1382. At the left, farther along from there on the left shore, large, monstrous fish appear, called whales, which devour people, tearing them up in their jaws. They try to swallow them, and then vomit them out.

1382. 1/2. Farthest away, on the opposite shore, very ugly faces appear, especially those of old women, which are monstrous beyond description. Such faces were shown to me before this, which are so ugly, nothing could be uglier. The creatures running about there have to be called insanities.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 1382

1382. At the left, further away from that place on the left bank, there appear great fishes called whales. They are monstrous, and they swallow men, and lacerate them with their jaws. They try to swallow them and they vomit them out.

1382 1/2. Farthest away, that is, on the opposite bank, most deformed faces are seen, especially those of old women, which are so monstrous that they cannot be described. Such faces have been shown me before; they are so deformed that nothing could be more so. They who run about there are to be called insanities.
