1401. The word "perception" can be applied to angels
Because "perceive" refers both to understanding and to feeling, involving both, therefore this expression is appropriate to angels, who perceive matters of religion with both [their understanding and their feeling], for they at once sense inwardly that something is true. 1748, 15 March.
1401. THE TERM "PERCEPTION" CAN BE APPLIED TO ANGELS
Because "to perceive" relates both to the understanding and to the affection, so that it involves both, the term is applicable to angels who perceive the things of faith from each faculty, for they immediately perceive that a thing is true. 11748, Mar. 15.
Footnotes:
1. The entry in the Index (s.v. Perceptio) is: "That there is a perception of both good and truth; that it is angelic."
1401. "Vox perceptionis" applicari potest angelis
Quia percipere se refert tam ad intellectum quam ad affectionem, sic ut involvat utrumque, ideo vox convenit angelis, qui percipiunt ea quae sunt fidei, utroque, nam percipiunt illico quod id verum. 1748, 15 Martius.
