Souls after the death of the body are receptive of more in each single mental image, and of understanding speech by means of mental imagery, the better instructed they had been in the truths of religion. It is quite different, however, with those who had not been taught. Also, one's receptivity grows both to the degree that falsities are rooted out, and to the degree that the feeling for truth is imparted.

After the death of the body souls are susceptible to the many things in each single idea and also to perceiving speech by ideas, and this to a fuller degree the more they have been instructed in the truths of faith. It is, however, otherwise with those who have not been instructed. This susceptibility also increases to the degree that falsities are rooted out, and the affection of truth is insinuated.
