Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 1921

1921. And of course, such things- which are truths-are not understandable by those who are not angels, because unbelievable. Take, for example, the fact that they are nothing. What this involves, that is to say, its limitless complexities, one who is not an angel cannot understand, but sticks in the term "nothing." Yet when one is nothing, then one is for the first time.

1921. And indeed such things as are true are not intelligible by those who are not angels, because they are not credible to them; they are therefore as nothing. What is involved in their being indefinite, this none but an angel can understand; such an one will stick in the word "nothing," when notwithstanding this nothing is really something of prime moment.

non sunt angeli, quia iis non credibilia, sicut quod nihil sint, quid hoc involvit, quod indefinita, hoc qui non angelus, non intelligere potest, haeret in voce nihili,'' cum tamen cum nihil sit, tunc primum sit.
