2090. What impression harmonious singing and Music makes on spirits and angels
It has happened two or three times that I have listened to singing in harmony, as I previously heard the music of stringed instruments [1996-1998], and the spirits were so delighted by that singing that they were almost dumbfounded. Its sweetness penetrated their inward parts.
Similarly in the case of angels, I was able to have a certain sense of awareness of their joy. 1748, 26 May.
2090. WHAT IMPRESSION IS MADE UPON SPIRITS AND ANGELS BY HARMONIOUS SINGING AND MUSIC.
It happened twice or thrice that there was heard harmonious singing, like as previously had been heard instrumental music, and with that singing were the spirits so delighted, that they became as it were spell-bound, the sweetness thereof penetrated their interiors. The same was the case with angels. I could perceive their enjoyment by a certain sense. - 1748, May 26.
