Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 2159

2159. Since very inward things are of unlimited number in comparison with inward ones, it is quite evident that not even the very least mental image of the inward mind can be brought into complete agreement [with the very inward things], to say nothing of all its mental images in all its varying states of conviction and feeling, which states are also beyond number. 1748, 31 May.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 2159

2159. Since the more interior things are indefinite in respect to interior things, hence it is also manifest that not even the minutest idea of the interior mind can be reduced to full correspondence, still less all of the ideas, so far as respects all their variations of state of persuasion and affection; which states are also indefinite. - 1748, May 31.

Experientiae Spirituales 2159 (original Latin 1748-1764)

1748, 31 Maj.
