Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 2780

2780. In the other life, impressions of others are eradicated with great difficulty

By experience of considerable duration I have also been given to learn that impressions of others, whether they be hatred, or contempt, or any others whatever that people had received in the life of the body and that had become rooted in their mind, cannot in the other life be dispersed, except after they come into heaven and bodily and material elements are washed away by the Lord. 1748, 10 Aug.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 2780

2780. THAT IN THE OTHER LIFE IMPRESSIONS CONCERNING OTHERS ARE ERADICATED WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY.

By experience of considerable duration, it is also granted to learn that impressions concerning others, whether feelings of hatred, or of contempt, or of pity, or of whatever else they may be, which man during the life of the body has from any cause whatever, taken up, and which are rooted in the mind, cannot be shaken off in the other life unless they [such persons] afterwards enter into heaven, and such things as are corporeal and material are wiped away [absterguntur] by the Lord. - 1748, August 10.

Experientiae Spirituales 2780 (original Latin 1748-1764)

1748, 10 Aug.
