Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 3209

3209. The intellect can grasp or understand what is internal, or more inward than itself, but cannot enter it

By a spiritual mental image I grasped that the rational and intellectual faculty can in no wise enter into those things that are more inward than itself, but still can know and understand that they exist, and their quality. 1748, 20 Sept.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 3209

3209. THAT THE INTELLECTUAL [PRINCIPLE] CAN APPREHEND, OR UNDERSTAND, THAT [THERE IS] AN INTERNAL [PRINCIPLE] OR [A PRINCIPLE] INTERIOR TO ITSELF, BUT CANNOT ENTER [IT].

I perceived this in spiritual idea, that the rational and intellectual [principle] can never enter those things which are interior to itself but yet can know and understand, that there are [such], also their quality. - 1748, September 20.

Experientiae Spirituales 3209 (original Latin 1748-1764)

1748, 20 Sept.
