Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 3265

3265. In short, the inhabitants of Mercury are the memory of subjects, separate from the memory made up of images of bodily and earthly things. From that memory comes speculation, which is so to speak an inward imagery, or rather, the mental imagery of realities. It is a thinking of these mental pictures that [makes] their speech by which I was allowed to speak with them earlier [1428], and I said that I spoke with them by actual thought.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 3265

3265. (In a word, the inhabitants of Mercury are the memory of things, separated from the memory of images [derived] from corporeal and terrestrial things; from which memory [of things] is speculation, which is as it were interior, or rather the imagination of things; thought is of its imagination, which is their speech, wherewith it was previously granted to speak with them, and it was said that I spoke with them with [by] living thought.)

Experientiae Spirituales 3265 (original Latin 1748-1764)
