Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 3355

3355. It was shown how they portrayed the Lord to themselves, namely as an old man with a grey beard, a holy one, and that they would become holy from him, and likewise, bearded. Hence the religious conviction emerged regarding beards, such as we read about concerning those whose beards had been shorn off [2 Sam. 10:4].

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 3355

3355. (How they represented the Lord to themselves was shown: to wit, as it were, an old man, of a gray beard, that he was holy, and that from him they became holy, and similarly bearded. Hence, such a religion originated respecting beards, as is read concerning those whose beards were shorn off.)

Experientiae Spirituales 3355 (original Latin 1748-1764)

talis religio emanavit de barbis, sicut legitur de iis quibus barbae erant detonsae [II Sam. X: 4].
