They only find out with difficulty that they are in the other life, being almost merely earthly, and ignorant as to what spiritual life is, about which they did not know in the bodily life, either, scorning those who discussed spiritual life, and scoffing at them. Therefore they even appear in the spiritual realms just like upper teeth, their faces so pulled back above, that scarcely any face at all is showing - diverse instances of which were displayed.
3507. From being so dominantly natural, they scarcely know that they are in the other life, or what spiritual life is, of which also they were ignorant in the life of the body, despising and scoffing at those who discoursed of spiritual life. When in spiritual spheres they appear only as fetid teeth, their faces being so retracted above that scarce any face appears, which was manifest in a variety of ways.
3507.
