I saw that when their malice reaches its peak, they then plunge themselves into punishments, for it is tolerated until it reaches this height, at which the balance perishes, and they cast themselves down headlong and are brought back into equilibrium and if they do not allow themselves by means of punishments to be brought back into balance, then they are cast into hell, to be purged there. 1748, 9 Nov.
