Portrayals that are not fictitious, yet still appearing, are the kind displayed before the sight of angels in a light arising out of the series of realities from which such things are portrayed. These portrayals are the prototypes, so to speak, of those that are in the world, whence come pleasure gardens, among many other things, etc. etc. When evil spirits are examined by angels, and good ones are examined by angels, there is simultaneously a perception of their qualities.

Representatives not fictitious, but yet consisting of mere appearances, are such things as are presented to the view of angels in a light originating in the order of the things from which such representations flow. These representations are, as it were, the originals or prototypes of those things that are in the world, such as paradises, etc. etc. By means of these external representations both evil and good spirits are inspected or explored by the angels, and a perception at the same time had of their quality.

Repraesentativa non ficta, sed usque apparentia sunt talia quae sistuntur visui angelorum, in luce oriunda ex ordine rerum, ex quibus talia repraesentantur, hae repraesentationes sunt quasi originales eorum quae sunt in mundo, inde paradisiaca et plura: etc. etc., ut mali spiritus inspecti ab angelis, et boni inspecti ab angelis, est simul perceptio, quod tales.
