4600. The sirens came for many days and were led down into their own hell, first up above, then to the side, afterwards below. There they live in deplorable conditions, for they can no longer roam about or practice their abominable arts against their companions, but are tamed. For there are angels who have charge of the hells; the Lord rules the hells through these angels and tempers these hells depending on what they have in mind.

They live there in a deplorable condition; for they are no longer able to wander about in the way just described, or to practice their abominable arts against their companions, but are held in check; for there are angels who are set over the hells, through whom the Lord rules them and restrains them according to ends.
4600. Per plures dies venerunt, et in infernum suum deductae sunt, primum superne, dein ad latus, postea infra; ibi lamentabiliter vivunt, non enim amplius ita circumvagari possunt, seu exercere sua abominabilia contra socios, sed domantur, angeli enim sunt qui praesunt infernis, per quos Dominus regit illa, et moderatur secundum fines.
