4871. The speech of those in hell is unintelligible to angels because the affections there are opposite to theirs, utterly filthy. The angels are unable to pronounce even one word of the speech that comes from them because, as has been said, [spiritual] speech is entirely in harmony with the inner elements and their emotions, affections, and thoughts, that is to say, ideas.
4871. Infernal speech is unintelligible to angels, because the affections there, from which is their speech, are opposite and most filthy. Not even one of their words can be uttered by angels; for the speech, as was said, perfectly accords with the interiors and with their movements, with affections and thoughts, or with ideas.
4871. Loquela infernalis non intelligibilis est angelis, quia affectiones ibi oppositae, spurcissimae, ex quibus loquela, ne quidem una vox eorum potest enuntiari ab angelis, interioribus enim et eorum motionibus, affectionibus, cogitationibus seu ideis prorsus concordat loquela ut dictum est.
