Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 4937

4937. A person who comes there from a different doctrinal viewpoint, however, thinks from it about the things that are preached. When this happens the preacher is disturbed and unable to preach. On account of [their differing beliefs the worshipers] either sit with face turned aside or they leave. Intelligent preachers, and especially wise ones, are aware that this is the case, for interest varies entirely in accord with the way the face is looking, that is to say, is turned toward them.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 4937

4937. But when one of another doctrine comes thither, and from that other doctrine thinks about those things which are being preached, the preacher is disturbed and is not able to preach; wherefore they either sit with averted face, or go away from the place. That this is so, the intelligent, and especially the wise, preachers, also know; for the affection is altogether changed according to the looking, or turning of the face to them.
