5527. About the state of those who are in heaven and in hell, and of those who are not yet purged
Those who are in hell constantly turn themselves to their loves and do this however they turn their face and body and wherever they go. For them the compass points are always constant, for them east is where their love is, or where their delight is. When they are like this, then they have been fully purged and are in hell.
5527. ABOUT THE STATE OF THOSE WHO ARE IN HEAVEN AND IN HELL, AND OF THOSE WHO ARE NOT YET VASTATED.
They who are in hell turn themselves unvaryingly to self-love, and this however they may turn about the face and body, and wherever they go. The quarters are always constant with them. Their east is the life's love, or, there is their delight. When [spirits] are such, then they are fully vastated and in hell.
5527. De statu eorum qui in inferno et coelo, et qui nondum vastati
Qui in inferno sunt, convertunt se constanter ad suos amores, et hoc utcunque faciem et corpus circumvertunt, et quocunque vadunt, illis sunt plagae semper constantes, illis est oriens ubi amor, seu ibi est jucundum eorum, cum tales sunt, tunc plene vastati sunt, et in inferno.
