5626. It is a result of this, too, that spiritual wisdom increases in the degree that it is removed from a concept based on matter, and that the ancients said that they come into light in the degree that they are drawn away from the faculty of sense perception.
5626. Hence also it is, that spiritual wisdom grows in the proportion in which it is removed from the material notion; and it on this account is that the ancients used to say that men come into the light as far as they are withdrawn from the sensual.
5626. Inde quoque est quod sapientia spiritualis tantum crescat quantum removetur a notione materiali, inde est quod antiqui dixerunt quod in lucem veniant quantum a sensuali abducuntur.
