836. About those who worship nothing except holiness in the world, and do not know any specifics about what true belief is
There are some who love to teach people only to worship a kind of holiness in general, without any knowledge of true belief. They are the kind who simply hear masses, which they pay no attention to both because they do not understand them, and because they do not care to understand. They only come into the temples to worship holiness; thus there are many places of this kind everywhere.
836. CONCERNING THOSE WHO IN THE WORLD ADORE NOTHING BUT SANCTITY, AND DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING WHATEVER AS TO WHAT TRUE FAITH IS IN ITS SINGULARS
There are some who love to teach in such a way that men should adore only a kind of sanctity in general without any cognition of true faith; as do those who only hear masses to which they pay no attention, both because they do not understand and because they do not care to understand. They enter temples merely to adore the sanctity. There are many such men everywhere.
836. De iis qui nihil praeter sanctitatem adorant, in mundo, nec quicquam in singularibus sciunt quid vera fides.
Sunt quidam qui amant ita docere, ut solum adorent homines sanctitatem quandam in communi, absque coqnitione verae fidei, sicut qui solum missas audiunt, ad quas non attendunt, tam quia non intelligunt, quam quod non curant intelligere, ii solum in templa veniunt, ut sanctitatem adorent, sic ubivis loci plures similes sunt.
