  10433.“摩西便恳求他的神耶和华的脸”表主因怜悯而记念。这从“摩西”的代表,以及“脸”和“恳求”的含义清楚可知:“摩西”是指圣言,如刚才所述(10432节);“脸”当论及耶和华时,是指怜悯和一切良善(参看2222235585759993069546节);“恳求”是指记念,因为当“摩西”表示圣言时,“恳求”不是指恳求,而是指与恳求的话相一致的东西,在此是指与圣言相一致的东西。在圣言中,耶和华是指主(参看9373节提到的地方)。

10433. And Moses besought the faces of Jehovah his God. That this signifies that the Lord in mercy remembered, is evident from the representation of Moses, as being the Word (as just above, n. 10432); from the signification of "faces," when said of Jehovah, as being mercy and all good (see n. 222, 223, 5585, 7599, 9306, 9546); and from the signification of "to beseech," as being to remember, for when by "Moses" is meant the Word, then "beseeching" does not signify beseeching, but that which is in accord with that of which it is said, here the Word. (That "Jehovah" in the Word denotes the Lord, see at the places cited in n. 9373.)

10433. 'And Moses sought to entreat the face of Jehovah' means that the Lord in mercy remembered. This is clear from the representation of 'Moses' as the Word, as immediately above in 10432; from the meaning of 'the face', when it has reference to Jehovah, as Mercy and all Goodness, dealt with in 222, 223, 5585, 7599, 9306, 9546; and from the meaning of 'entreating' as remembering or calling to mind. For when 'Moses' is used to mean the Word, 'entreating' does not mean entreating; rather it means that which is in agreement with what is said to entreat, in this instance in agreement with the Word. As regards 'Jehovah', in the Word the Lord is meant by Him, see in the places referred to in 9373.
