60.“看哪，我是活着的，直到世世代代”表祂是永恒的生命。既然“那存活的”表示唯独祂是生命，生命唯独来自祂（58节），那么可知，“看哪，我是活着的，直到世世代代”就表示唯独祂是永恒的生命，因而永生唯独来自祂；因为永生在祂里面，因而来自祂。“直到世世代代”表永恒。永生唯独来自主，这一点从以下经文明显看出来：
耶稣说，凡信我的，不至灭亡，反得永生。（约翰福音3:16）
信子的人有永生，不信子的人不得见生命，神的震怒停留在他身上。（约翰福音3:36；6:40，47-48）
我实实在在地告诉你们，信我的人有永生。（约翰福音6:47）
我是复活和生命；信我的人，虽然死了，也必活着；凡信我的人，必永远不死。（约翰福音11:25-26等）
因此，主被称为“那活到世世代代的”（又如启示录4:9-10；5:14；10:6；但以理书4:34）。
60. "And behold, I am alive forevermore." This symbolically means that He is eternal life.
Since the declaration, "I am He who lives," symbolically means that the Lord alone is life and the only source of life (see no. 58 above), it follows that saying, "Behold, I am alive forevermore," symbolically means that He alone is life to eternity, and thus that He is the only source of eternal life. For He has eternal life in Him, and He is therefore its source. Forevermore means to eternity.
That the Lord is the only source of eternal life is clear from the following passages:
(Jesus said,) ."..whoever believes in (Me) shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
He who believes in the Son has everlasting life, while he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. (John 3:36, cf. 6:40)
Assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. (John 6:47-48)
I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, shall live. ...whoever... believes in Me shall never die. (John 11:25-26)
And elsewhere.
This, now, is why the Lord is also called He who lives forever and ever in the following verses in the book of Revelation: 4:9-10; 5:14, and 10:6. And also in Daniel 4:34.
60. 'And behold I am the Living One for ages of ages' signifies that He is eternal Life. Since 'I am the Living One' signifies that He Only is Life, and from Him Only Life is (58 above), it follows that 'Behold I am the Living One for ages of ages' signifies that to eternity He Only is Life, and thus eternal life is from Him Only; for He is eternal Life in Himself, and consequently from Himself. 'Ages of ages' signifies what is eternal. That eternal life is from the Only Lord is established from the following passages, and others:
Jesus said, Whosoever believes in Me shall not perish, but shall have eternal life. John 3:6,
He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who believes not in the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him John [3:36;] 6:40, 47-48.
Verily I say unto you, He who believes in Me has eternal life. John 6:47.
I am the Resurrection and the Life; he who believes in Me, though he should die, shall live: whosoever believes in Me shall not die to eternity. John 11:25-26; and elsewhere. As a result the Lord is now called 'the Living One for ages of ages' also in the following places in the Apocalypse (4:9-10; 5:14; 10:6; Daniel 4:34).
60. And behold, I am alive for ages of ages, signifies that He is life eternal. Now as, "Who am living" signifies that He alone is life, and from Him alone life is (as above, (58), 58), it follows that "Behold I am alive for ages of ages" signifies that He alone is life to eternity, and consequently that eternal life is from Him alone; for eternal life is in Him, and consequently from Him. "Ages of ages" signifies eternity. That eternal life is from the Lord alone is plain from the following passages:
Jesus said, Whosoever believeth in Me shall not perish, but shall have eternal life, (John 3:16).
Everyone that believeth in the Son hath eternal life, but he who believeth not in the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him, (John 3:36; 6:40, 47-48).
Verily, I say unto you, he that believeth in Me hath eternal life, (John 6:47).
I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in Me, though he die, shall live; and whosoever believeth in Me, shall not die to eternity, (John 11:25-26; and in other places).
Hence, then, the Lord is called, "He that liveth for ages of ages;" as also in the following passages:Revelation 4:9-10; 5:14; 10:6; Daniel 4:34.
60. "Et ecce Vivens sum in saecula saeculorum," significat quod sit Vita aeterna. - Quoniam "Qui sum Vivens," significat quod Solus sit Vita, et ab Ipso Solo vita (supra 58), sequitur, quod "ecce Vivens sum in saecula saeculorum" significet quod Solus sit Vita in aeternum, et sic ab Ipso Solo vita aeterna, est enim Vita aeterna in Ipso, et inde ab Ipso: "saecula saeculorum," significant aeternum. Quod a Solo Domino Sit vita aeterna, constat ex sequentibus his locis:
"Jesus dixit, Omnis qui credit in Me, non peribit, sed habebit Vitam aeternam," (Johannes 3:16);
"Qui credit in Filium, habet Vitam aeternam; qui vero non credit Filio, non videbit Vitam, sed ira Dei manet super illo," (Johannes 3:36; 6:40, 47-48); 1
"Amen dico vobis, qui credit in Me, habet Vitam aeternam," (Johannes 6:47);
