217、在主的属灵国度有各种管理形式,因社群而异,其多样性取决于社群的职分,这些职分对应人体一切组织的功能,这些多种多样的功能众所周知:如心脏有一种功能,肺脏有另一种功能,肝脏、脾脏、胰腺又各有一种功能,每种感觉器官同样有各自的功能。正如这些器官在人体履行各种服务,在“大人”也就是天堂里,也有属于社群的各种服务,因为那里的社群对应这些器官。天堂的一切对应人的一切,可能看上文的相关章节(87-102节)。

  不过,所有形式的管理在这一点上是一致的,即它们视公共利益为自己的目的,在公共利益中使个体得利益。{注1}这是因为整个天堂里的每个人都在主的垂顾之下,主爱每一位,并且,出于神性之爱的命定,应当有公共利益,且每个人都可以从中获得自己的益处。此外,每个人都照着他热爱公共利益的程度而获得利益,因为他在何等程度上热爱公共利益,就在何等程度上热爱全体和每一位,由于这爱出于主,故他也在同等程度上被主所爱,并受益。

{注1}:每个人和社群,包括国家和教会,以及普遍意义上主的国度,都是邻舍。出于良善之爱,照着他们的状态向他们行善就是爱邻舍。所以,邻舍就是它们的利益,即首先要考虑的公共利益(6818-68248123节)。此外,公民利益,就是公正,也是邻舍(291547308120-8123节)。所以,对邻舍的仁爱延伸到人生活的点点滴滴。在一切职能和行为中,出于良善和真理的爱而热爱良善并行出良善,以及出于公正的爱而行出公正就是爱邻舍(24178121-8124节)。

但不管怎樣, 任何形式的治理總以公共福祉為目的, 且在公共福祉內確保每個個體的福祉。因為在整個天國, 每個人都在主的引導之下。祂愛每一個人, 照其聖仁安排一切, 使每個人都從公共福祉中受益。個體受益的多寡, 取決於他對總體的熱愛程度, 因為他若熱愛總體, 也必熱愛每個個體。由於此愛是出於主, 所以他們從主獲得相應的愛與受益。

Heaven and Hell #217 (NCE, 2000)

217. In the Lord's spiritual kingdom there are various forms of government, not the same in one community as in another but varying depending on the functions the communities fulfill. Their functions parallel those of the human [body], to which they correspond; and the variety of these is well known. The heart has one function, the lungs another, the liver another, the pancreas and spleen others, and so also for each sensory organ. Just as we have these various services going on in our bodies, so services are carried on in the universal human that is heaven, since it is its communities that correspond to them. (The reader may see in the appropriate chapter above, 87-102, that everything in heaven corresponds to something in us.)

Still, all the forms of government share a central focus on the public good as their end, and within that good, the good of each individual. 1This is because everyone in all heaven is under the guidance of the Lord, who loves everyone and who from his divine love arranges things so that it is the common good from which individuals receive what is good for them. Each individual receives benefit in proportion to his or her love of the whole, for to the extent that they love the whole they love all the individuals. Since this love is the Lord's they are proportionally loved by the Lord and are benefited.

1. Every individual and community, including the country and the church and in a universal sense the Lord's kingdom, is our neighbor; and supporting them out of a love for their welfare, in keeping with the quality of their state, is "loving our neighbor;" so their welfare (which is the common good that is to be of primary concern) is our neighbor: 6818-6824, 8123. Further, civic good, which is what is just, is our neighbor: 2915, 4730, 8120-8123. So charity toward our neighbor reaches out to every single detail of our lives; and to love what is good and do what is good out of a love for what is good and true, to do what is just out of a love for what is just in every role and action is to love our neighbor: 2417, 8121-8124.

217. In the Lord's spiritual kingdom there are various forms of government, not the same in one society as in another, the variety being in accordance with the ministrations of the societies. Their ministrations are in accord with the ministrations of all things in man, to which they correspond. That these are various is well known. For the heart has one ministration, the lungs another, the liver another, the pancreas and spleen another, and each sense organ another. As in the body these organs perform various services, so also there are various services pertaining to the societies in the Grand Man which is heaven, for the societies there correspond to these organs. That there is a correspondence of all things of heaven with all things of man may be seen in the appropriate section above (87-102). But all the forms of government agree in this, that they look to the public good as their end, and in that good to the good of each individual. 1This is so, because all in the whole heaven are under the oversight of the Lord Who loves all, and, from His Divine Love, ordains that there is a common good from which each individual may acquire his own good. Each one, indeed, acquires good in so far as he loves the community, for so far as he loves the community, to that extent he loves all and every one. And as that love is the Lord's, he is to that extent loved by the Lord, and good becomes his.

As in the body these organs perform various services, so there are various services pertaining to the societies in the Greatest Man, which is heaven for the societies there correspond to these organs. That there is a correspondence of all things of heaven with all things of man may be seen in its own chapter above (87-102). But all these forms of government agree in this, that they look to the public good as their end, and in that good to the good of the individual. 1And this is so because everyone in the whole heaven is under the auspices of the Lord, who loves all, and from Divine love ordains that there shall be a common good, from which each individual shall receive his own good. Each one, moreover, receives good according as he loves the common good; for so far as he loves the common good he loves all and everyone; and as that love is love of the Lord he is to that extent loved by the Lord, and good comes to him.
