Adore God.- That this signifies that the Lord is to be acknowledged and worshipped from the heart is evident from the signification of "God" as denoting the Lord, since no other is God of heaven and earth; and from the signification of adore as denoting to acknowledge, confess, and worship from the heart (concerning which see above, n. 290, 291, 463, 790, 805, 821).
