2051. Spirits can also produce odors
It has happened several times that spirits produced odors, just as if the objects causing the odors were at hand, about which, I believe, I have spoken here and there before [323, 791, 1044-1047]. Today, during a conversation about flowers, specifically lilies, they produced a very real odor of lily flowers, a fact that it is permitted only to make note of. 1748, 22 May.

(It has sometimes happened that spirits have produced odors, just as if the objects of the odors had been present, concerning which, if I mistake not, I have frequently spoken before. Today, while discoursing of flowers and lilies, they produced a very perceptible odor of flowers and lilies, as to which, however, it is only necessary to notice the fact. - 1748, May 22.
