2723、关于别是巴。“别是巴”表示教义的状态和性质,即:它是与纯人类理性观念联合的神性教义。这一点从21:22-33的整个思路(参看2613,2614节),以及原文中“起誓的井”和“七井”这些词本身的含义清楚可知。“井”表示信之教义(2702,2720节),“起誓”表示结合(2720节);“起誓所立的约”也表示结合(1996,2003,2021,2037节);“七”表示神圣之物,因而表示神性(395,433,716,881节)。由此明显可知,“别是巴”表示本身为神性的教义,连同与它联合的纯人类理性观念或表象。
亚伯拉罕的话清楚表明,这就是“别是巴”之名的由来:
你要从我手里受这七只母羊羔,好为我作我挖这口井的证据。所以他称那地方为别是巴,因为他们二人在那里起了誓。他们在别是巴立了约。(创世记21:30-32)
以撒的话也表明这一点:

2723. But in regard to Beersheba-"Beersheba" signifies the state and quality of the doctrine, namely, that it is Divine and it is that to which what is of human reason is adjoined-as is evident from the series of things treated of from verse 22 to this verse (see n. 2613, 2614); and also from the signification of the word itself in the original language, which is "the well of the oath," and "of seven." That a "well" is the doctrine of faith may be seen above (n. 2702, 2720); that an "oath" is conjunction (n. 2720); and that a "covenant made by an oath," has the same meaning (n. 1996, 2003, 2021, 2037); and that "seven" denotes what is holy and thus Divine (n. 395, 433, 716, 881); from all which it is evident that "Beersheba" signifies doctrine which is in itself Divine together with things of human reason or appearances adjoined. [2] That the name Beersheba comes from all this is manifest from Abraham's words:

Because these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take from my hand, that it may be a witness unto me that I have digged this well; therefore he called that place Beersheba, because there they sware both of them; and they struck a covenant in Beersheba (Gen. 21:30-32). In like manner from Isaac's words in chapter 26:

It came to pass on that day that Isaac's servants came and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water; and he called it Shibah (an "oath" and "seven"); therefore the name of the city is Beersheba unto this day (Gen. 26:32-33). There also wells are spoken of about which there was contention with Abimelech, and a covenant with him is treated of; and by "Beersheba" are signified the things of human reason again adjoined to the doctrine of faith; and because they are again adjoined, and the doctrine thus became adapted to human comprehension, it is called a "city" (that a "city" signifies doctrine in its complex may be seen above, n. 402, 2268, 2450, 2451). Moreover Beersheba is mentioned with a similar signification as to the internal sense in other places (Gen. 22:19; 26:22-23; 28:10; 46:1, 5; Josh. 15:28; 19:1-2; 1 Sam. 8:2; 1 Kings 19:3; and also in the opposite sense, Amos 5:5; 8:13-14). [3] The extension of the celestial and spiritual things belonging to doctrine is signified in the internal sense, where the extent of the land of Canaan is described by the expression "from Dan even to Beersheba;" for by the land of Canaan is signified the Lord's kingdom, and also His church, consequently the celestial and spiritual things of doctrine; as in the book of Judges:

All the sons of Israel went out, and the congregation was assembled as one man from Dan even to Beersheba (Judg. 20:1). In the book of Samuel:

All Israel from Dan even to Beersheba (1 Sam. 3:20). And again:

To transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba (2 Sam. 3:10). And again:

Hushai said to Absalom, Let all Israel be gathered together, from Dan even unto Beersheba (2 Sam. 17:11). And again: David told Joab to go through all the tribes of Israel from Dan even to Beersheba (2 Sam. 24:2, 7). And again:

There died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men (2 Sam. 24:15). In the book of Kings:

Judah dwelt under his vine and under his fig-tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon (1 Kings 4:25).

2723. As regards Beersheba however, 'Beersheba' means the state and the essential nature of the doctrine, that is to say, it is Divine doctrine to which merely human rational ideas have been allied. This becomes clear from the train of thought in verse 22 to the present verse, 2613, 2614, and also from the meaning of the actual expression in the original language as 'the well of the oath' and 'the well of seven'. 'A well' means the doctrine of faith, see 2702, 2720, 'an oath' means a joining together, 2720, as does 'the covenant established with an oath', 1996, 2003, 2021, 2037; and 'seven' means that which is holy and so that which is Divine, 395, 433, 716, 881. From these meanings it may become clear that 'Beersheba' means doctrine which in itself is Divine together with merely human rational ideas or appearances allied to it.

[2] The fact that this is how the name Beersheba was derived is evident from Abraham's words,

Abraham said, Because you will take the seven ewe-lambs from my hand, that they may be a witness for me that I dug this well. Therefore he called that place Beersheba, because there the two of them swore an oath. And they made a covenant in Beersheba (verses 30-32).

Similarly from Isaac's words recorded in Chapter 26,

So it was on that day, that Isaac's servants came and pointed out to him the reasons for the well which they had dug, and they said to him, We have found water And he called it Shibah ('an oath' and 'sever'); therefore the name of the city is Beersheba even to this day. Gen 26: 32, 33.

This too has to do with wells, about which there was disagreement with Abimelech, and with a covenant made with him. 'Beersheba' means merely human rational ideas which were again allied to the doctrine of faith, and because they were allied to it again and the doctrine was in that way made such that the human mind could grasp it, it is called 'a city' - 'a city' being doctrine in its entirety, see 402, 2268, 2449, 2451. What is more, the name Beersheba is used with a similar meaning in the internal sense in Gen 22: 19; 26: 23; 28: 10; 46: 1, 5; Josh 15: 28; 19: 1, 2; 1 Sam 8: 2; 1 Kings 19: 3, and in the contrary sense in Amos 5: 5; 8: 13, 14. The whole range of celestial and spiritual things taught by doctrine is meant in the internal sense where the land of Canaan is said to range from 'Dan even to Beersheba'; for the land of Canaan means the Lord's kingdom, also the Church, and therefore means the celestial and spiritual things taught by doctrine, as in the Book of fudges.

All the children of Israel came out, and the congregation assembled as one man' from Dan even to Beersheba. Judg. 20: 1.
