  7430.“这是神的手指”表这能力来自神性。这从“神的手指”的含义清楚可知,“神的手指”是指来自神性的能力。“手指”之所以表示能力,是因为手指是手的一部分,而“手”表示能力(参看8784931-4937634464246948节)。“手指或指头”表示能力,这一点也可从以下经文明显看出来:
  我观看你指头所造的天,并你所陈设的月亮星宿。(诗篇8:3
  路加福音:
  耶稣说,我若靠着神的手指赶鬼,这就是神的国临到你们了。(路加福音11:20
  马可福音:
  耶稣领说话结巴的聋子离开百姓,就用指头探他的耳朵,吐唾沫抹他的舌头。(马可福音7:32-33
  这也是代表神性能力的行为。
  “手指”代表能力,这一点也可从犹太人当中的教会仪式明显看出来,就是在拇指上抹血的仪式和祭司用手指头弹血的仪式;关于这两种仪式,经上在摩西五经中如此记着说:

  出埃及记:
  要取些公牛的血,用指头抹在坛角上。(出埃及记29:12;利未记4:69:9

7430. This is the finger of God. That this signifies that the power was from the Divine, is evident from the signification of "the finger of God," as being power from the Divine; that "finger" denotes power is because the fingers belong to the hands, and by "hands" is signified power (see n. 878, 4931-4937, 6344, 6424, 6948). That "finger" denotes power, is evident also from the following passages:

When I behold the heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars which Thou hast prepared (Ps. 8:3). Jesus said, If I by the finger of God cast out demons, surely the kingdom of God is come unto you (Luke 11:20). That Jesus took the deaf man who had an impediment in his speech apart from the people, and put His finger into his ears, and spat, and touched his tongue (Mark 7:32-33);

was also a representative of Divine power. [2] That a finger represents power is plain also from the rites of the church among the Jews, in that blood should be put upon the thumb, and that the priest should sprinkle the blood with his finger, concerning which it is thus written in Moses:

Thou shalt kill the ram, and put of the blood upon the thumb of the hand of Aaron and his sons, and upon the great toe of their right foot (Exod. 29:20). The priest shall take of the blood of the guilt-offering, and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot. Afterward the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil which is upon the palm of his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before Jehovah; and of the rest of the oil, which is upon the palm of his hand, the priest shall put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot (Lev. 14:14, 16-17). Thou shalt take of the blood of the bullock, and put it upon the horns of the altar with thy finger (Exod. 29:12; Lev. 4:6; 9:9). [3] That all these things signified secrets of heaven and holy things, is evident from the fact that the Word is from the Divine, and is inspired as to every point [in the original] (Luke 16:17), thus also as to these details in Moses. That the "thumb" and the "finger" denote the power of good through truth, is here plain from the internal sense. Power is also signified by "finger" in David:

Blessed be Jehovah who teacheth my hands to fight, and my fingers war (Ps. 144:1);

And in Isaiah:

He shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, and that which his fingers have made (Isa. 17:8);

"altars" denote worship in general (n. 4541); "the work of the hands, and what the fingers have made" denote such things as are from what is man's own, thus which are from his own power.

7430. 'The finger of God is this' means that the power came from the Divine. This is clear from the meaning of 'the finger of God' as power from the Divine. The reason why 'finger' means power is that the fingers are parts of the hands, and by 'hands' is meant power, 878, 4931-4937, 6344, 6424, 6948. The meaning of 'finger' as power is clear from the following places also: In David,

When I look at the heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and stars which You have establisheda ... Ps 8:3

In Luke,

Jesus said, If I cast out demons by the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come to you. Luke 11:20.
When Jesus took aside from the people the deaf man who spoke with difficulty and put His finger into his ears, and spat and touched his tongue, Mark 7:32, 33, this too was an action representative of Divine power.

[2] The fact that 'finger' represents power is also evident from rituals observed in the Church among the Jews, the ritual in which blood was put on the thumb, and the ritual in which the priest sprinkled blood with his finger, both commanded in the following places in Moses,

You shall slaughter the ram, and put some of the blood on the thumb of the right hand of Aaron and of his sons, and on the big toe of his right foot. Exod 29:20.

The priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt-offering, and the priest shall put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed from leprosy, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot. Further places in which such rituals occur are Lev 4:6; 9:9.

[3] All these rituals served to mean the hidden and holy things of heaven. This is clear from the consideration that the Word has a Divine origin and is inspired as to every tittle, Luke 16:17; and this being so, 'thumb' and 'finger' mean the power of good exercised through truth, as is evident from their internal sense in the places just quoted. Power is again meant by 'finger' in David,

Blessed be Jehovah, who trains my hands for conflict, and my fingers for war. Ps 144:1

And in Isaiah,

He will not look to the altars, the work of his hands, and what his fingers have made. Isa 17:8.

'The altars' stands for worship in general, 4541, 'the work of hands' and 'what fingers have made' for the kinds of things that are the product of what is properly one's own, thus of one's own power.
